Born in Greenville, Mississippi, Charles Mason began singing in school and church at seven years old. Mason also performed in front of his family during reunions and church events. He later moved to St. Louis, Missouri, with his parents. While in high school, Mason joined a group of talented young men who later formed the group called the "Grandells." They achieved many awards, the most prestigious of which was to audition for the Delphonics—a six-time platinum vocal group—with a grand prize of a national record deal for their junior year in high school. He later joined a college choir called, "Rev. Andrew Latchison and the Gospel Harmonizers"—formed from Harris Stowe State College. Another group was formed called, "The Gospel Three." Together, they had completed their own album which became successful in the local area. Mason has been an inspired songwriter and vocalist for some time now and has successfully pursued the position of being a composer for established artists worldwide. Mason now sings under the name "Uncle Charles" and has decided to further his career by signing with Tate Music Group. |
